There is an opening I cannot close.
There is a closure I cannot open
If I seem guarded it is because
I have discovered there is no difference
between entrances and exits
That is not to say they are the same
or that the means of walking through them
is somehow dissimilar
it is only that the illusion of travel
of distances or safety gained
by coming and going
the hinging or locking
of mechanisms to ease in
the sentry of our secrets
is so unguarded that
opening or closing anything
doesn’t matter.
